UNVEILING HER TRUE ESSENCE…

Since the moment she stepped foot on Texas Southern University’s campus in 2004, Shalondria Simpson has been helping people live their best lives.

Simpson, who graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2008, runs True Essence, a Cosmetic and Medical Spa, which she operates with her twin sister, LaShondria Simpson-Camp, MD.

A native of Texas City, Texas, Simpson earned her undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas, before heading to TSU. After receiving her doctorate, she returned to TSU to teach as a professor, while also working as a pharmacist.

“TSU prepared me with the skills necessary to compete with my peers in any pharmaceutical career,” she said. “Besides academics, TSU enhanced my leadership skills and confidence to become a successful pharmacist.”

That love of TSU is just one of the reasons she stays involved.

“The school gave me the opportunity to collaborate with and establish lifelong friendships with some of the best pharmacists in the nation,” she said.

“I would urge all alumni to come back and get involved. Students are in need of mentors and we need more alumni with innovative ideas to keep the students at TSU engaged, active, and academically successful.”

Today, Shalondria owns and operates two of her own pharmacies in Houston, Advance Pharmacy and TruCare Pharmacy, where she provides unique specialty services for patients such as custom medication compounding, low-cost generics, delivery service, and a discharge medication concierge service.
